Thanks! I'm going back to Maui this summer, so I'm hoping for more good star-weather. :)

This is a realy beautiful shot of the milkyway. I need to go there to see the sky. It seem like you can see a lot of the southern objects in the sky. Amazing.

I can't believe those colors, it's amazing that that's up there. :D Astrophotography for the win! That looks like the heart of the Milky Way, judging by the brightness.

You should try the Orion constellation, Rob Rataowski (sp?) did a really cool shot with the Amatuer Astronomers club and a 10 MP camera on a 3 minute exposure (or was it 5?) and it showed the amazing blue nebulae. :D *is giddy*

What lens did he use for it? My wide-angle is my only lens with very good clarity at the moment, so I can't really zoom in on specific constellations.

From on top Haleakala, yes. We were up at just about 10,000feet elevation, with all the city lights far below. It was a new moon too, so perfect star viewing weather.

That's so amazing. If I go back to Hawaii, I want to live on Maui~

Have you ever tried those extremely long exposures to get the streaked circles of stars?

Not yet, need to get the proper remote to do that kind of exposure...but that's on the "to buy" list! :D
